There are conflicting theories on the importance of stretching. Can you shed some light on this topic?

Flexibility is an important part of muscle and connective tissue health. By performing a variety of stretches throughout the week, your muscles, as well as the tendons and other fascia will remain healthy and elastic. There has been a lot of research on when the appropriate time to stretch is, as well as what kind of stretching is most beneficial. The bottom line is if you are performing static stretches after a workout or short warm-up, you are improving your flexibility and likely reducing the chances of future injury.
