I'm new to the whole exercise thing and have no equipment at home. Is there a program that you could please suggest?

Hi. In the past four years, I have lost over a hundred pounds without changing anything other than the fact that I walk almost 5.5 miles a day while I'm at work. I'm new to exersising and I would like to actually do something for my health. I have no equipment at home, so that's a problem. Is there a specific routine that you would suggest for me? I would like to work on my arms, stomach, thight, and butt. Lol. I know all the hard areas. Any information you could give me without me killing myself with pain and to stay motivated would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on your weight loss success and your committment to fitness! Although regular physical activity involves some persistence and commitment, the extra effort will certainly pay off in the end.

Studies indicate that regular exercisers have more energy and enjoy a lower risk of chronic conditions such as hypertension, type II diabetes, and cardiovascular disease by simply aiming for at least 150 minutes/week of moderate-intensity cardiovascular activity (CDC, 2013).

The good news is that you don’t need fancy equipment or a gym membership to get in great shape. ACE offers a number of online resources to help put your plan into action- beginning with the free 12-Week Kick Start Workout. This program will help you build strength as well as cardiovascular endurance and is perfect for individuals who are new to exercise.

For a change of pace, ACE also has an extensive online exercise library. You can click on Workouts and Programs if you’re looking for an entire routine or simply browse through the individual exercises to see which may be of interest to you. The exercises are listed by target areas, available equipment, and individual exercise level- making it easy to put your own workout together.

You can also choose to stream a workout routine to your computer or device to help you see a particular move in action on the ACE YouTube Channel. From there you can learn various workout programs, upload inspirational information from top trainers, and follow along at your own pace- all from the comforts of home.

Do What You Enjoy – Enjoy What You Do
One of the most important things to keep in mind as you get started is to explore your exercise resources to find what interests you. Individuals are much more likely to stick to a physical fitness routine if they find it enjoyable. The free ACE resources are here to help you find your interests as you pursue better health.
