How do I get ACE Certified?

I am in the Air Force and fitness is a lifestyle for me. I want to learn the ins and outs of what exercises do to the body at a scientific level as well as how to determine foods for workouts and life in general. Supplementation as well.... I pretty much just want to be well rounded if that makes any sense.

Becoming an ACE Certified fitness professional is certainly a worthwhile pursuit as it offers you the ability to make a difference in the health and wellbeing of others. The academic and practical knowledge you’ll receive will prepare you for working with a broad spectrum of clients. As one of the foremost fitness industry leaders, ACE holds a prestigious NCCA accreditation for all four of their core certifications (Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, Health Coach and Advanced Health & Fitness Specialist) and by earning your certification through ACE, it assures the public that you are a trained professional with knowledge and skills based on scientific principles.

The first step towards certification begins with the right materials. ACE has a number of resources to support you through the process every step of the way and help you feel comfortable with the knowledge you need to successfully pass your exam. A great place to start would be to visit the ACE website. There you will find step-by-step instructions on the certification process along with all the available study packages. The comprehensive training manual, workbook, flashcards and online practice tests all offer an opportunity to learn through a variety of ways. You can select the best study package to fit your individual needs. Should you have any questions about any of the materials, ACE is there to help. You can either call and talk directly with one of the specialists at (888) 825-3636 or email your questions to support@acefitness.org.

The next step in the certification process involves a bit of planning to allow for sufficient study time. An ACE certification exam covers a number of core competency areas; and like other comprehensive exams, the more time you put in on the front end, the more likely you’ll successfully pass. Overall, I found the test prep materials to be very helpful- including the practice examinations which really give you a feel for the type of questions you can expect and their level of difficulty. I set up a study schedule leading to my exam date and actually planned out the various topics I would focus on each week.

Being well prepared is probably the best thing you can do to help you feel more confident before the actual examination process. The professionalism, guidance and materials received through ACE will certainly point you in the right direction as you begin your career as a fitness professional.
