due to excessive cardio my body has become loose
please tell me how to tone it
Just to be clear, cardiovascular training — even in large amounts —doesn’t cause the body to become “loose.” But if you’re not doing anything to strengthen your major muscle groups, you will experience muscle atrophy, or loss of muscle tissue from lack of use, even if you’re doing a lot of cardio. Along with atrophy comes a reduction in muscle size and strength — and that could make you feel somewhat… squishy.
To improve the strength and definition of your muscles, and your overall feeling of firmness, swap out a couple of your cardio sessions for strength training workout twice a week. This type of training involves using free weights, weight machines, bands or tubing, and even body weight to make your muscles move against resistance to fatigue. For best results, work with a certified personal trainer for a strength training routine tailored to your goals, abilities, and health status. You could also join a group fitness class that includes a strength and conditioning component, or look for a routine strength-training DVD geared to beginners and led by a certified fitness professional.
